Organization Name:
Iraq Mine and UXO Clearance Organization (IMCO)

Organization Type:
NGO/INGO

Mission Statement:
The Iraqi Mine/UXO Clearance Organization (IMCO) is a national nongovernmental demining organization fully trained and equipped to international humanitarian mine action standards to perform manual and mine detection dog-supported demining operations, battle area clearance, reconnaissance of suspected hazardous areas, and UXO/landmine survey and technical site survey missions. IMCO has performed a variety of clearance projects throughout central and southern Iraq since September 2003. It will expand its operational capabilities in 2008 to include the safe destruction of small arms and light weapons. The men and women of IMCO work daily to eliminate the threats to the lives of the citizens of Iraq posed by the Òhidden killersÓ: the landmines, unexploded ordnance, and other explosive remnants of war that litter the countryside. By doing so, we of IMCO dedicate our lives to providing a safe environment where our children can freely play and our countrymen can live in peace and harmony.
