Rose Library's front entrance is zero-entry with automatic doors. Left side entrance zero-entry with outside automatic doors to the 24-hour space. There is not an automatic door between the 24-hour space and the library.

There is elevator access between all floors.

Gender neutral restrooms. Two single-occupancy restrooms are located within the 24-hour study space on the ground floor. A JACard is required for entry to the 24-hour space or CFI staff can assist with access.

Parking: Institute parking is arranged in lots C10, D1, and C12 lots between the hours of 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM on 1/9. No parking permits will be necessary. There is also ample faculty and staff (blue & purple permit) parking in JMU lots D2, D3, D6, and East Campus Deck Level G. All regulations for JMU students remain in effect, and students attending the event are required to park in appropriate student parking lots with a JMU parking permit.

Handicapped parking spaces are available, with permit, adjacent to Rose Library.

Event hospitality 

The CFI appreciates that one's diet reflects cultural and religious preferences, as well as personal needs (e.g., gluten-free, vegan). To that end, any meals will feature simple options that will be labeled with common allergens and preferences.

  • Symposium attendees are asked to use others’ gender pronouns and are invited to write their pronouns on the conference nametag.
  • There is a universal restrooms in the Rose Library 24 hour space.

Space for pumping or nursing mothers
  • A private room for nursing mothers in the CFI suite, room 5119 . We regret that we are unable to provide a room with a handwash station. Room 5119, however, is quiet, and lockable with available outlets and big comfy chairs.

Inclement weather: While we hope this does not happen, we want to be prepared for inclement weather. If the University closes, January Institute will be canceled. If the university delays opening or closes early, we will cancel affected sessions accordingly.
