SOSC/PHIL 400. Philosophical Foundations of Social Science. 3 credits.
An examination of the philosophical aspects of social scientific knowledge and explanation as these are contained in logical empiricist, interpretive/hermeneutical, and critical theory approaches. Prerequisite: 15 hours of social science and/or philosophy.
SOSC 450. Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Social Issues. 3 credits.
An examination of the perspectives of the various social scientific disciplines through a survey of major issues such as inequality, racism and sexism, development and underdevelopment, the nature of power and the relationship between the individual and society. Corequisite: SOSC/PHIL 400 and 12 hours in social science or permission of the instructor.
