Narcissus 'Double Smiles'

This beautiful cross has the double flower of N. 'Meeting', its 'Mom' and the wonderful fragrance and multi-flowers of N. jonquilla, its 'Dad'; 10"-14"; intermediate; mid-spring. Zones 4—8.

Tulipa 'Big Smile'

Long, egg-shaped, warm golden yellow giant that leans towards a shade of amber; eye-catching with Aucuba; very special long lasting flower that makes you smile; 20"-22"; late spring. Zones 3—7.

Tulipa 'Purple Dream'

Dark, elegant and lovely, this graceful, purple tulip sways and dances in the springtime breezes; larger than most in this group; wonderful alone or with other colors! 18"-24". Zones 3—8.

Allium aflatunense 'Purple Sensation'

Tons of tiny little violet purple flowers tightly compressed to look like one gorgeous, big, round, baseball sized flower on a 20"-30" stem; one of the earliest; late spring or early summer. Zones 3—8.

Allium 'Mount Everest'

Vigorous, long-lasting, baseball sized white flowers atop 24"-36" straight stems add a showy sculptured effect to the very late spring garden. Zones 3—8.

Camassia leichtlinii 'Blue Danube'

30"—36" tall spikes with many starry flowers with long, upright swordlike leaves; native to America, it was sometimes used by the Indians as a food crop; tolerates damp meadows and pond edges as well as heavy clay soils; seems to bloom well in either part shade or full sun; late spring/early summer. Zones 3—8.

Chionodoxa forbesii 'Blue Giant'

Sometimes called 'Glory of the Snow'; 5-10 small starry flowers in a spray per 6—8" tall stem, great naturalizers in rock and woodland gardens or in lawns; 'shoes and socks' plant for larger daffodils, tulips and hyacinths; late winter/early spring. Zones 3—8.

Corydalis solida 'Purple Bird'

These shriveled, funny-looking little tubers produce amazing moisture tolerant, dainty woodland plants with glaucous fernlike leaves and longish, tubular flowers with tiny orchid-like tips; makes colorful mounds in the garden; mid-late spring; 6+cm; 4"-5". Zones 5—8.

Crocus 'Spring Beauty'

This beauty is a bit elusive to pin down botanically but is a wonderful addition to our early spring repertoire of crocus; 2"-3". Six petaled, cup-shaped flowers with grasslike foliage that come in a myriad of colors; early blooming and great for rock gardens, forcing and for designs in the late winter or early spring lawns; 2:—3" tall. Zones 3—8.

Crocus sativus 'Saffron Crocus'

This fall bloomer is the original Saffron Crocus whose red stigmas are used for flavoring and coloring food. Early to mid fall, 3"—5" tall. Zones 6—9.

Sternbergia 'Fall Daffodil'

Its shape and size makes it look very much like a yellow fall crocus but it is far from it. Being a member of the Amaryllis family makes it pest proof, but it does prefer well-drained soil and a mostly sunny location; blooms in the fall and may take a season or two to get acclimated; 6"-10". Zones 7—9.

Eremurus stenophyllus 'Foxtail Lily'

3'—4' tall spikes of tons of starry florets; extremely showy and eye-catching; for a sunny, very well drained border; protection from strong winds helpful; makes excellent cut flowers; very late spring or early summer. Zones 5—8.
