JMU Title IX Office

We are here to serve as a resource to those in our campus community who have been impacted by sexual misconduct, which includes sexual harassment and sexual violence. When we receive a report or disclosure of sexual misconduct, we respond by reaching out to the individual who has experienced the harm to provide information about available resources and options.

Resources

An individual can do any of the following when speaking with Title IX:

  • Just learn more about available resources and options for moving forward
  • Make an informal report and request specific supportive resources known as *interim measures
  • Make a formal report to initiate a formal campus conduct process

*Interim measures include some of the following:

    • issuing No Contact Orders
    • assistance with academic or housing matters
    • transportation options
    • connecting those to counseling services
    • introducing a supportive advocate
    • arranging for opportunities to learn about legal and law enforcement options

Our office can also serve as a resource for our campus community members who are going through a campus conduct process by taking incident statements of the involved parties and providing resources to responding parties. You do not need to go through a campus conduct process in order to receive resources and support from Title IX. To learn more about specific JMU resources, visit our Resource Guide.

JMU Title IX Resource Guide

To receive Title IX resources, you can report to our team by phone, email, over the phone, or in person. We understand that it can be difficult coming forward. Our office consists of team members who are trained in receiving and responding to disclosures and reports of sexual misconduct. Our Title IX Officers provide an inclusive, supportive, and compassionate space to make a report, learn about resources, receive support, and consider options for moving forward.
