Break Description
This is a co-sponsored ASB and is limited to members of club climbing.
Since 1995, The Carolina Climbers’ Coalition has worked to “protect, preserve, and expand climbing opportunities in the Carolinas.” Members of JMU’s Club Climbing will spend spring break helping to build a 1.2 mile trail to newly accessible cliffs and boulders at Buffalo Creek Park in Lake Lure, NC.
Breakers will need sturdy closed toed shoes and must have the ability to walk 1.5 miles on uneven and steep terrain and to perform manual labor. Outdoor work in March means we’ll need to be prepared for all weather – hot or cold, wet or dry. We’ll spend our evenings camping at a local campground.
Join us to learn about land stewardship, and to pitch in on protecting, preserving, and expanding opportunities for our fellow climbers. Time permitting, we might even get to try a few of those problems ourselves!
