Break Description

PROJECT-CURE.png

Join us on this unique experience as we travel to one of Project C.U.R.E.’s main locations in Nashville, Tennessee. Project C.U.R.E. is a nonprofit organization that “identifies, solicits, collects, sorts, and distributes medical supplies and services according to the imperative needs of the world.” They are an organization that was founded to empower doctors and nurses in developing countries by providing them with the tools needed to complete their jobs. This organization is focused on delivering medical relief to more than 130 countries who have communities in need. Project C.U.R.E.’s priorities are “prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and Ebola”. To help them work towards their goals, as volunteers, we will be assisting in any way possible. We will also be learning more about the story of the organization, along with the stories of the individuals we are getting the opportunity to serve.

Volunteers play an extremely significant role in the operation of nonprofit organizations. On our break, we will be given the opportunity to sort and collect medical supplies, test equipment, complete administrative tasks, and provide insight to different departments. Project C.U.R.E. ships semi-trucks full of medical supplies to different locations, and we will be assisting in the process of making that happen. This break will help you develop, or strengthen, your passion for service, along with your passion for ethics. This is a co-sponsored break with Ethical Reasoning in Action, and we will be analyzing how James Madison University’s Eight Key Questions play a crucial role in all walks of life.

Join us as we go to learn more about Project C.U.R.E. and their mission and how we can be a part of something so fulfilling!
