Break Description

East Coast Migrant Head Start Program (ECMHSP) is an agency in 26 locations along the east coast that provides services and a head start in education for children of migrant and seasonal farm working families. Since 1974, ECMHSP has been committed to preparing the children of migrant and seasonal farm workers for success by providing holistic, high quality early childhood education services for children and families in a nurturing, culturally sensitive environment and by providing services and advocating for children and families in their area of need.

Each day we will be at a different ECMHSP center and we will be providing the services that they need most. Service will consist of building on their playgrounds, assisting in the classrooms, helping with child care, and any tasks that the teachers need to be completed. Additionally we will be able to interact with the parents to hear the stories and we may get the opportunity to see the fields that the parents work in.  We will learn a lot about the life of a migrant farm working family and be able to aid in the services provided for some of the 3,145 children that ECMHS serves.
