Break Description

While working with these different organizations, the weekend will be focused around a similar mission of addressing poverty in the D.C. area. In 2015, the District of Columbia was ranked the 6th highest state with the most people below poverty, and had the highest food stamp use percentage rate in the United States. A Wider Circle’s mission is to help both individuals and families out of poverty, as well as to give everyone the chance to succeed and live well. Loaves and Fishes works towards ending hunger and homelessness, as well educating the public about the issues in their own communities. Central Union Mission provides programming for men with life-controlling issues, underprivileged children, isolated seniors, and other necessary services for families.
