Break Description

Join us in helping to restore and protect the rare steephead ravines and streams habitat at the Nature Conservancy in northern Florida. The Apalachicola Bluffs and Ravine Preserve is committed to restoring ecosystem health and diversity by increasing ground cover and erosion control. We will be planting wiregrass plugs, the ecological predecessor to the native and endangered longleaf pine tree, as well as removing invasive species and performing other possible restoration projects that will contribute to the Conservancy’s mission, and will enable us to learn more about complex systems involved in environmental sustainability.

This week-long adventure of service-learning and growth will also include midnight nature walks, starry nights, and simple living, free from the distractions of everyday life. Leave behind your stressful schedule and join us as we connect with nature and ourselves!

Each night we will gather around a bonfire to reflect on our day’s work. As a group we will challenge each other to grow as active citizens; learning, working hard, having fun and contributing to a national movement of education and service in the ASB community.
