Focus on: Community Wellness

Description: Entremundos, or “Between Worlds”, is a non-profit grassroots organization that aims to connect local non-profits with groups of skilled volunteers they need to complete projects.  Over the week we will be focusing on community wellness. The specific projects we will participate in will have to do with reforestation, stove building for Mayan families, and possibly playground building.  Throughout our trip we will be thinking critically about how our work relates to Entremundos’ vision of confronting issues of poverty, social exclusion and injustice, in the process raising awareness about the social, cultural, economic, civil and political rights of Guatemala's citizens.  We hope to immerse ourselves in the local culture of Quetzaltenango and learn as much as we can in our short week there in order to connect what we experience with life back in Harrisonburg.  Come on our trip and make this an amazing spring break you’ll carry with you forever!
