Focus on: Environment

iVen con nosotros! Our break is focused on protecting three endangered turtle species: Leatherback, Green, and Hawksbill. We will be working with Asociacion Salvemos Las Tortugas de Parismina (ASTOP). Before ASTOP’s start in 2001, 99% of all three turtle species were poached and sold on the black market in Costa Rica. Through their work ASTOP has significantly decreased the amount of illegal turtle poaching. We will work along side ASTOP staff patrolling beaches, guarding nests, protecting the turtle eggs, and collecting data for their research. We will have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the local community and experience the cultural and environmental importance of turtle conservation.
