Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) applies to all forms of federal and state aid, as well as institutional grant aid.  Additional applications may be needed for other programs.  To learn more about the individual application requirements review the programs below.

The 2024-2025 FAFSA can now be completed at studentaid.gov.  JMU’s FAFSA Priority Filing Date for 2024-25 is March 1, 2024, which means the FAFSA should be processed by the government no later than that date to be considered “on-time” at JMU though this is not a hard deadline and a FAFSA can and should be completed after this date.

We will offer awards as long as funds remain available to applicants who submit the FAFSA before or after March 1, 2024.

Please be sure to add JMU's school code to your list of schools while applying for your FAFSA - 003721.

If you think you might not be eligible to fill out a FAFSA and are a Virginia Resident, see our VASA Application page for more information about how you might be able to receive state aid.
