"As the resident Harry Potter expert in WRTC, I take a Dumbleborian approach to teaching and learning. Albus Dumbledore, famed headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry always told his students that it was their choices that determine their success in life. I can't think of a better choice than to major in WRTC. It is the gateway to the world, and it is much easier to find and get to than platform at King's Crossing."

Depth Requirement
All WRTC students must complete a depth requirement in an area related to their WRTC concentration. A depth requirement is a set of courses outside the major that is designed to complement other components of the student's course of study and to support selected professional goals.

Students declaring the concentration in Technical and Scientific Communication must satisfy a nine-hour minimum depth requirement. Six hours must be at the 300 and 400 level. Students must consult their major advisor for a list of eligible areas and courses. The programs students may choose from include anthropology, industrial design (art), biology, chemistry, communication sciences and disorders, communication studies, computer science, economics, geographic sciences, geology, human resources development, integrated science and technology, kinesiology, mathematics, media arts and design, military science, music industry, physics, psychology, public policy and administration, sociology, and statistics. These nine credits may not be double counted toward General Education requirements. Courses not appearing on the list of eligible areas and courses may be acceptable for substitution if the advisor is consulted prior to registering for the course. Students who are double majoring or minoring in areas outside WRTC will automatically satisfy the depth requirement if the major or minor area is approved for that concentration.

Students declaring the concentration in Writing and Rhetoric must declare and complete a minor to satisfy their depth requirement. Students should consult their adviser before declaring a minor in order to determine which minor best complements the concentration while meeting the students' interests. Students who declare and complete a second major are considered to have met the Writing and Rhetoric concentration's depth requirement.
