Who We Are
The School of Writing, Rhetoric and Technical Communication (WRTC) is a community of exceptional faculty, dedicated staff, talented students and energetic alumni in one of the only stand-alone schools dedicated to the art and science of communication across a variety of modes and genres.
WRTC offers interdisciplinary and innovative, yet historically and theoretically grounded, degree programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In these programs, students learn the kinds of research, analytical and reasoning skills that will allow them to become successful professionals with a variety of business, educational, governmental or industry employers. Our graduates, then, have to be well rounded and intellectually agile, not only accomplished in writing, editing, and communication technologies but also acquainted with technical and scientific content areas and ever-changing digital literacies. Our students work closely with their WRTC advisers to design a path through the program that fits their unique educational needs and career aspirations.
The School of Writing, Rhetoric and Technical Communication is a community committed to preparing its students -- both writers and technical and scientific communicators -- for lives of enlightened, global citizenship.
