for JMU Faculty & Students
The Women's Studies Programis accepting submissions for the Women's Studies Feminist Scholarship Award for Faculty
and the first Women's Studies Feminist Scholarship Award for Undergraduates
Award: $500 (for faculty) $250 (for students)
Submission Deadline: March 17, 2010
Selection Committee: The Women's Studies Advisory Board
Decision Date: April 21, 2010
Purpose: To recruit, encourage, and support feminist scholarship in the JMU community from both emerging and established scholars.
Eligible faculty projects: New or published creative or analytical work by members of the JMU faculty or research staff.
Eligible student projects: New or published creative or analytical work authored or co-authored by JMU undergraduate(s) (work co-authored with a faculty member is ineligible).
Submission Process for faculty:
Submit the following in electronic form to thompsmx@jmu.edu:
- a cover letter specifying feminist contributions of project
- a curriculum vitae
- an abstract of the submitted project
- a copy of the published or unpublished project
Items not available in electronic form may be submitted to Mary Thompson at MSC 1801. Materials will be returned upon request.
Submission Process for Students:
Submit the following in electronic form to thompsmx@jmu.edu:
- a cover letter specifying feminist contributions of project
- an abstract of the submitted project (if submitting work from an honors thesis, please submit a summary of the larger project)
- a copy of the project; limit 20 pages (if submitting work from an honors thesis, please submit only one chapter)
Items not available in electronic form may be submitted to Mary Thompson at MSC 1801. Materials will be returned upon request.

- Impact on the feminist project of ending
- gender-based inequality
- Clarity and accessibility
- Attention to human diversity
