Carolyn graduated from Madison College in 1952 with a BS in Business Administration.  She appreciated her years as a student on campus.  She was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma.  She has served on the Foundation Board of the sorority.  She has also served two terms on the JMU Alumi Board.

Carolyn and her husband, John, were married in 1952 and have four sons.  They started Tom Brown Hardware Store in Richmond and eventually had four stores.  Carolyn served on the Richmond City Council from 1978 to 1990.  She was the chair of Port of Richmond, Virginia.

She has valued her involvement in the Richmond Alumni Chapter, and the many visits and support of JMU through the Class of 1952 Reunions. 

Carolyn states that the vision of our school’s leadership and growth is something in which we all have pride.
