“My name is Brittany Smith I am a
freshman here at JMU and
MYMOM has helped me a great deal. The program gave me
insight into being a great member of a club, instilling
leadership, and promoting campus involvement. MYMOM gave me
the tools I needed to begin making my mark on the Madison
community.”—Brittany Smith, 2006 participant
“MYMOM is a once-in-a-lifetime
experience. As a freshman, it
solidified my transition from high school to James Madison,
and made for an overall successful first semester. My peers,
counselors, and directors are priceless friends, that can
never be replaced. I believe that if one has the potential
for the determination and leadership abilities then MYMOM
will polish those skills and not only make you a stronger
leader and a better person, but most importantly open doors
on the JMU campus and also in the community and world you
live in.” – John Scott, 2006 participant
“MYMOM has definitely been one the
best experiences of my
freshmen year. For the first time in my life, I looked
forward to Mondays (when meetings are held)because of the
amazing people involved in MYMOM. My MYMOM group became like
a family to me and I was constantly amazed by their caring
and support. Make Your Mark on Madison is a fantastic
program because requires you evaluate yourself and
challenges your world view. The group structure allowed me
to intimately know individuals that I may never have chosen
as friends and made me conscious of the remarkable
individuals that surround me here at JMU. I would recommend
MYMOM to anyone who is looking to find and involve themselves
here at JMU as long as they are willing to keep an open mind!”
--Kaitlynn Jenkins, 2006 participant
“For me, my involvement with the Make
Your Mark on Madison program was
the pinnacle of my JMU experience. Serving as the Student Director
for two years was an opportunity to give back to a university
community that had given me so much. The opportunity to lead a group
of leaders who would then lead a group of students with outstanding
leadership potential was indescribable. I learned more about my
leadership style, how I worked with others, and my strengths and
weaknesses than I ever thought possible. Watching the participants
who have gone through the program go on to do amazing things at
Madison has been by far the most rewarding and humbling experience I
have had at Madison.” - Jake
Miller, 2004 & 2005 Make Your Mark on
Madison Student Director
