Entrance Requirements for ITSC

Undergraduate Entrance Requirements

To be admitted into the ITSC B.A. or B.S. programs, students must first satisfy all university general admission requirements. Please refer to the JMU Admissions Office or visit www.jmu.edu/admissions.

ITSC Special Undergraduate Admission Requirements

Before becoming a TSC major, students must present an application packet to the Institute’s director. This packet includes the following information:

  • A completed TSC application form
  • A copy of your unofficial transcript or record of progress
  • A writing sample; that is, a background and goals statement of no more than 500 words that explains how the B.A. or B.S. program would prepare the student for his or her anticipated career
  • An interview with the Director

In addition, the ITSC considers SAT scores when looking at potential majors. Non-native English speaking students must include scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) as well.
