JMU and Study Group: Paving the Way in International Education
Course# TD1445

Have you heard the buzz around campus? More international students are on the way. In an innovative and progressive program, JMU has teamed with a private company, Study Group, to offer English Language Learners a chance to join our university and begin receiving academic credit to fulfill General Education requirements while at the same time improving their language skills. This program, called the Foundation Year, allows for international students to raise their language skills to university level, but not “lose” a year’s tuition payment in the process. How might this influx of new international students affect your job? What can we all do to assist in their assimilation to JMU so they will become proud Dukes and take the purple and gold around the world? This workshop will address these questions and give an overview of the Foundation Year program.
