The University Health Center's Substance Abuse Prevention (SAP) office works to increase knowledge and awareness of alcohol and other drug issues, and decrease the negative consequences associated with high-risk drinking and illegal drug use.
JMU wants students to know that SAP will provide them with various tools and educational resources, but as adults, the decision about how much to drink is ultimately their call.
Increasing awareness among faculty and staff about the substance abuse prevention tools and resources available for students can help in two ways.
- Increase awareness in the community about JMU's substance abuse prevention efforts for its students
- Empower faculty and staff to be involved and serve as points of access for students in need of referral
In order to maximize these efforts we need your help.
Picture a toolbox available to JMU students. It contains a variety of substance abuse prevention tools that can be used to help our students navigate tough choices about substance use.
