LEARN MORE ABOUT STRATFORD PLAYERS HISTORY

Stratford players is open to all members of the campus community. We consider and discuss matters regarding JMU theatre: upcoming guests, auditions, workshops, shows, and other related extracurricular activities. We discuss student-written proposals and vote on them prior to the faculty's consideration. Also, Stratford Players is a great opportunity for people devoted to this profession to get involved and try out new aspects of theatre.

Any Questions? Contact Stratford Players at stratfordplayersjmu@gmail.com for more info or simply come to a Stratford Players meeting . We usually meet twice a month on Wednesday. Join the JMU Stratford Players on Facebook.

  • APO (Alpha Psi Omega)

Alpha Psi Omega, APO, is a national theatre honors society. The Alpha Gamma Theta cast is comprised of students who have achieved recognition for their work in the James Madison University School of Theatre and Dance. We are here to support, educate, and motivate our fellow peers. Invitation to APO is based upon practical experience in the JMU spaces and academic achievement. Inductions occur at the end of each semester. APO meetings typically occur in an evening time slot after most rehearsals. APO creates performing opportunities through partnerships with other JMU organizations, like Stratford Players, and sponsors social events to foster stronger connections within the department.

  • NHSDA (National Honor Society for Dance Arts)

  • Dance Theatre

Dance Theatre aims to promote dance concerts and theatre performances within JMU and the Harrisonburg community.  DT gets involved with community service in the form of teaching dance to different populations, such as day care centers, elementary schools, group homes, retirement centers.  DT raises funds for the Dance Program at JMU for use of bringing professional companies to work with the dance majors, and taking trips to see professional dance performances. Check out Dance Theatre on Facebook.
