Series Description: The JMU Benefits Series consists of nine workshops. Each workshop focuses on a different JMU specific employee benefit. All sessions are A La Carte. Participants can register for any or all of the sessions that interest them.

I Can't Work, Now What? Understanding the VSDP (VSDP)

This session will provide an overview of the Virginia Sickness and Disability Program. There will be a review of the leave received through this program, along with an understanding of the usage of this leave. In addition, there will be discussion on what constitutes a short-term disability, the affect on benefits and pay during short-term disability, and the process to begin a disability claim. The transition from short-term disability to long-term disability will also be reviewed, along with affects on benefits.

Injured at Work-What Next? Understanding Workers Compensation

Are all accidents that occur during work hours covered under Workers Compensation? If I am injured on the job, can I go to my regular doctor, or do I have to use a specific doctor? If I was negligent and as a result was injured on the job, is the accident compensable under Workers Compensation? Plan to attend this session to learn some of the laws and regulations governing Workers Compensation and steps you need to take as an employee to insure that you are following the correct procedures in reporting incidences.
