Description:

All newly designated supervisors are required to complete the 20 minute, online Alcohol and Other Drugs orientation course and quiz created by JMU’s Office of Human Resources and the Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) or to attend the two hour, in person Workplace Substance Abuse Management for Supervisors workshop, TD1398. (Pre-registration is required to attend the workshop.)

JMU has a responsibility to maintain a work environment free from the adverse effects of alcohol and other drugs and to provide training and resources to university supervisors.

During this course, you will learn about:

• Recognizing violations of JMU policy 1110
• Your responsibilities as a supervisor of the Commonwealth of Virginia and JMU
• Employee responsibilities
• Appropriate supervisory action to take
• Available resources for help
