Stewardship 2012

JMuse Cafe

Nuclear power will be the topic for the first JMuse Café from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 on the third floor of East Campus Library.

The program, created by JMU Libraries, is designed to provide a forum that brings students and faculty together for academically rigorous discussions on complicated topics. Special guests will be Dr. Kevin Borg from the history department and Dr. Steven Whisnant, head of the physics department.

The concept is inspired and informed by successful grassroots café initiatives in communities around the globe, such as Socrates Café and Café Scientifique. JMuse Café will bring together a variety of learners and thinkers in a campus café environment that can dismantle the usual disciplinary and social boundaries that characterize typical classes and more formal student-teacher interactions.

The event is free with online registration at www.lib.jmu.edu/jmuse.
