For students, JMU is within reach of several reasonably priced options to help you get home and back to campus that do not require your family to come get you every time. We have your travel needs covered!

By Bus or Rail
Amtrak: 20 minutes away in Staunton, Va.
College Transit: A bus service designed for JMU students that provides transportation for Thanksgiving, Winter Break and chartered events such as Homecoming and Spring Break. They service destinations throughout Virginia
and as far north as Massachusetts and Connecticut. All trips start
from and return to Godwin Hall at JMU.
Harrisonburg Transit: Serving both Harrisonburg and JMU, including inter-campus shuttles and routes to shopping areas and major off-campus housing complexes.
Home Ride of Virginia: A bus service designed for JMU students. Generally they
leave JMU on Friday afternoons and return on Sunday nights. They also
make special runs for fall break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring
Break. All trips start from and
return from Godwin Hall. Their stop in Northern Virginia is in
the south parking lot of the Vienna Metro Station. In Charlottesville,
they stop at the Student Activities Building at UVA; In Richmond, at the
James Cabell Library at VCU; in Hampton, near the Montgomery Ward's at
the Coliseum Mall. Tickets are on sale at the JMU Bookstore, or may
be purchased over the phone by calling the Home Ride office. Tickets can be bought in advance and are
on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Washington Flyer: A student can get to Dulles Airport by combining Washington Flyer with Home Ride. Simply take the Metro from the Home Ride Northern Virginia drop-off to the West Falls Church Metro stop, then catch the Washington Flyer shuttle to Dulles for a low price.

JMU Zimride: An online posting board site that offers students the ability to
post a need for a ride or provide
transportation to others. This is also a great way to meet other JMU
students!
