National Undergrad Conference

Young researchers share their projects at national conference

James Madison University sent 19 undergraduate students to the 20th National Conference on Undergraduate Research, held in April at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. More than 2,000 undergraduates and faculty from 282 U.S. colleges participated in the conference.

The annual conference showcases undergraduate research and promotes undergraduate scholarship and creative activities.

The 19 JMU students presented research in biology, physics, chemistry, kinesiology, psychology, political science, and integrated science and technology.

Dr. Daniel M. Downey, professor of chemistry; Dr. Ronald W. Raab, associate professor of ISAT; Dr. Kyle Seifert, assistant professor of biology; and Dr. C. David Jaynes, associate professor of biology, accompanied the students to the Asheville conference, as did Pat Buennemeyer, undergraduate research coordinator at JMU.
