Class Engages in Campus Environmental Stewardship Projects Water Quality of Newman Lake.
Water quality data were collected from Newman Lake on April 8, 2009 by 26 students during two laboratory sessions of ISAT 302- Instrumentation and Environmental Measurements. Samples were taken from a trolling-motored boat supplied by Facilities Management and a rowboat and kayak supplied by Gene Tucker. Sampling from the boats and kayak was done at various locations over the entire length the lake. This field experiment was supervised by Dr. Gene Tucker and Mr. Fred Copithorn of Integrated Science and Technology and Mr. Abe Kaufman of Facilities Management. The results will be used to inform JMU’s environmental stewardship planning.
