Each year, the JMU CHALLENGE asks students to think critically about sustainability-related issues.  The 4th Annual JMU CHALLENGE is focused on student scholarship in the areas of energy and/or sustainability.  JMU undergraduate and graduate students from all majors, either individually or as a team, are invited to submit the attached application describing their current scholarship in either of these areas.  Selected students will receive conference registration and bus transportation to participate in the the 2014 Energy and Sustainability Conference (http://www.esc-east.org) hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce in Richmond, VA, on February 14, 2014.  Further, some student abstracts will be submitted to the conference for presentation in the student-led break out session.  Students will be formally notified of their selection to participate/present by December 15, 2013.

Completed applications (see attached) must be submitted to stewardship@jmu.edu by 5 p.m. on November 3, 2013.

Abstracts will be reviewed using the following criteria:
-timeliness of the topic
