Student Teams Compete in Green Pavilion Design Challenge

Three interdisciplinary teams from INDE 300/400 courses are competing to design an outdoor pavilion that demonstrates sustainable energy technologies.  The location of the pavilion will be adjacent to the CISAT wind turbine and photovoltaic panels.  The winning student project will consist of a design of the structure, designs of educational displays, construction documents, a 3D CAD model, and animations. Facilities management has collaborated in the development by providing interim reviews of the design in cooperation with students and faculty at the 30, 60, and 90% completion points throughout Fall Semester. The winning design (completed in early 2009) will be professionally reviewed and a final, permitted design will be constructed by FM. Funding: $20K for professional review and build, funded internally by University Services. View more details Contact: Gary Chatelain, Professor of Art + Art History, 540.568.6696, chatelgx@jmu.edu
