As stated in the Environmental Stewardship Action Plan, JMU will:

Develop a plan for sustainable grounds, where sustainable may be native, naturalized, reforested, or ultra-low maintenance

• Conduct engineering analyses of Newman Lake and document sustainable landscape opportunities
• Document sustainable landscape opportunities for the CISAT Hillside and Duke Sculpture Garden

Develop a plan to exceed the current university green building, nutrient management, pest management, and storm water guidelines

Examples of our progress:

• The third phase of the East Campus Hillside Naturalization project was completed. A campus landscape tracking and management tool, a Nutrient Management Plan, and an Integrated Pest Management Plan for sustainable grounds were further developed.
