The university will be an environmentally literate community whose members think critically and act, individually and collectively, as model stewards of the natural world. – A JMU Defining Characteristic

The Arboretum Collaborative is a Presidential initiative design, to bring together competitively selected JMU faculty during the spring 2010 semester to learn and share with one another.  A series of informational sessions and resources will be provided to increase participants’ awareness and knowledge of environmental stewardship. The goal of the program is to stimulate new curriculum innovation. It is intended for faculty who are not already incorporating significant sustainability or environmental stewardship components into their courses. Selected faculty will attend weekly sessions during the spring 2010 semester and will be expected to develop a summer grant prospectus. The Center for Faculty Innovation and the Institute for Stewardship of the Natural World are co-organizing this program.

The following faculty members were selected to participate in the 2010 Arboretum Collaborative program.  A selection committee identified members of the Arboretum Collaborative based on the quality of their proposals. This was a highly competitive process.
