Since 2009, JMU has offered employee professional development opportunities related to environmental stewardship, including the popular Greening Your Office Workshops. In the 2016-2020 Environmental Stewardship Action Plan, the goal for supporting faculty and staff professional development is further elevated.

All employees can obtain recognition whether they are just beginning to explore environmental stewardship or are long-term participants in campus activities. The program is an important part of the campus Environmental Stewardship Action Plan. It will assist the university in meeting its environmental goals and will further integrate sustainability in the JMU culture.

Employees can choose to apply for recognition as individuals, teams, or larger groups. There are two levels of participation: Acorn and Oak. Participants pursuing Talent Development training credit will need to complete the Oak Level. Learn more about the Acorn Level and Oak Level programs.
