This solicitation is intended to support locally focused environmental education programs that promote environmental and conservation stewardship, as well as to help develop knowledgably and responsible students, teachers, and citizens. Environmental Education is defined as educational and training activities involving elementary, secondary, and postsecondary students. Proposals must address one of the following Educational Priorities; agricultural education, community projects (water and soil quality, food waste management, locally sourced foods, flood and fire prevention, ect.), and career development. Proposals must also address at least one of the following Environmental Priorities; improving air quality, ensuring clean and safe water, ensuring the safety of chemicals, and increasing transparency, public participation, and collaboration with communities.

Awards will be made for projects that design, demonstrate, or disseminate environmental education practices, methods, or techniques that will increase environmental literacy and encourage behavior that will benefit the environment in the local community. Awards between $50,000 to $100,000 will be made for about 3 or 4 proposals. 25% cost share of the total costs of the project is required.
