About Social Work Outreach
The interdisciplinary Aging, Family and Intergenerational Studies Program (AFISP) focuses on the issues associated with aging and the family. The mission of the program is to focus on the study, research, and application of knowledge of aging and the family, and to engage in a collaborative relationship with the university and the larger community. To assure the integrity of programming, the program is a member of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) and the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR). The AFISP offers one community-based programs: the Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) and Purple & Gold Connections; and two community based courses: Adult Health and Development Program (AHDP) and Youth Empowerment Strategies (YES).
