Hyong Yeom joined the JMU Social Work faculty in fall 2004 after she got her Ph.D. in Social Policy and her M.A. in Women’s Studies and Social Policy at Brandeis University, MA. She received her M.S.W. from University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, with a concentration in mental health.
Hyong had clinical experience in mental health and mental retardation. She has been involved in various research projects concerning mental health, substance abuse, low-income women, children and their families, and disabilities. She has been teaching Human Behavior in the Social Environment, Skills for Generalist Social Work, Research Methods, International Social Work, and a Family Studies Minor course.
Her areas of interest in research include substance abuse, mental health, women and the family, immigration, social policy, international social work, and innovative research methods.
