Cindy Hunter joined the social work department in 2002. She has lived and worked for over seven years in communities in Mauritania, West Africa and El Salvador. Her direct service experience includes work in a homeless shelter, a free medical clinic, migrant worker camps and in-home family preservation. Her interests are community building, mental health, employment issues and small group work. She is an advocate for anti-hunger and anti-war issues. Hobbies include cycling and enjoying rich conversations with old and new friends over steaming plates of food.
Ms. Hunter received her master's degree in social work from Howard University in 1993. Her field of study is displaced populations.
