Q: Where are you located?
A: We are located in Roop Hall Room 200.
Q: Do I need to make an appointment?
A: No. The Science and Math Learning Center is a walk-in tutoring center.
Q: What do I do when I get to SMLC?
A: You sign in at the computer located at the first desk, sit at a table, and raise your hand when you have a question. A SMLC peer tutor or faculty member will come by and assist you.
Q: What can I get help with?
A: We will assist you with your understanding of course content, homework assignments, online homework assignments (ARIS, Lon Capa, SPSS, etc.) and lab reports.
Q: Why do I have to log-in to the computer when I come into SMLC?
A: In order to provide adequate service, we need to know how many students attend the center and in which courses they need assistance. It is for statistical purposes only.
Q: Will my professor know I came to SMLC?
A: Occasionally, professors ask if their students attended SMLC. We will not give specific names of students that came to the center unless requested by the professor. If your name is given, it would only be used for statistical analysis.
Q: Who do I contact if I have any questions about SMLC?
A: You can contact Mr. Cunningham (cunnincx@jmu.edu, Math Coordinator) or Dr. Tam (tammc@jmu.edu, Science Coordinator)
