As the Associate Director, Alicia oversees the day to day operations of the Science and Math Learning Center and P.A.S.S. (Peer Assisted Study Sessions), a Supplemental Instruction program. She also tutors in the Science and Math Learning Center and teaches in the Department of Chemistry. She loves helping students reach their potential as they matriculate through JMU. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, reading and spending time with her family in Louisiana.
As the Science Coordinator, Mary splits her time between tutoring in the Science and Math Learning Center and teaching in the Department of Chemistry. She is passionate about helping students develop an appreciation for chemistry and succeed throughout their educational journey at JMU. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young boys.
Charles Cunningham is the mathematics and statistics coordinator at the SMLC. He received his Bachelors degree in Mathematics at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and his Masters at the University of Virginia. He has been involved with tutoring at JMU for sixteen years. His other loves include golf, hiking, and his beagle Marcella.
Justin joined the JMU team in the fall of 2010 after an 11 year stint teaching statistics at The University of Akron. He was attracted to the “public university with a small college feel” that JMU offers. As well as tutoring statistics in the SMLC, Justin teaches in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. In his free time, he enjoys biking, following Pittsburgh sports (Go Pens, sorry Shanil), is an avid fan of Drum Corps International and if he’s not doing any of that, he enjoys reading books on faith and theology and has a passion for men’s ministry.
Jarrett obtained his B.S. in Physics and Applied Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and his Ph.D. in Physics from New York University. At JMU, he spends his time tutoring in the SMLC and teaching in the Department of Physics & Astronomy. In his time away from campus, Jarrett is known to hike, play guitar and collect matchbooks.
