Scholarship Overview

Established by the TOWN Foundation which is a non-profit, charitable, philanthropic organization founded by members of Norfolk Lodge No. 1, Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons. There are two non-endowed scholarships per academic year to honor the memory of Mrs. Oliver. She attended JMU from 1920 to 1922. She taught at Green St. Elem. School, Portsmouth, VA for seven years beginning in 1922. The following criteria has been summarized: The recipient shall be selected from entering freshman females; must have substantial financial need and it must be obvious that the recipient would not be able financially to attend JMU without this award; shall be renewed for three succeeding consecutive years; must be an undergraduate. A federal application for financial aid must be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid.
