Scholarship Overview

The purpose of the gift is to create the Struthers Family Scholarship Endowment. This endowment will provide funds annually foractive members or pledges in good standing of Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity. To be named an Alpha Phi Omega Scholar, recipients must: 1) Be a full-time undergraduate student enrolled at James Madison University 2) Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher 3) Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. Once a student is named an Alpha Phi Omega Scholar, this scholarship may be renewed for up to three consecutive years provided that the recipient fulfills the criteria outlined above. The award shall benefit no less than two students and no more than four students in one school year. Beyond the above criteria, the appointment of Alpha Phi Omega Scholars will follow the University’s guidelines for the awarding of scholarships. In the event that no students from Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity meet the criteria for this award, secondary preference will be given to students in an established Community Service Learning Program, actively engaged in service throughout the year, or another university recognized student service organization. If there are no students that meet the first or secondary preference, the award shall be given to undergraduate students majoring in Psychology who meet the previously stated criteria.
