Scholarship Overview

An endowed scholarship established by Captain (USN-Ret) Gerald and Carol Fulk honoring their son, John Vanderbilt Fulk who is an alumnus of the Class of 1983. The scholarship recipient will be a JMU student who is enrolled full-time and, through active involvement in the student organization known as Catholic Campus Ministries (CCM), demonstrates leadership, citizenship and a service orientation. He or she must be a citizen of the United States, may be a rising sophomore, junior or senior and must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Recipients must also demonstrate Need as determined by filing the Free Federal Financial Aid Application by March 1st of the enrolling year.

The Director of Scholarships will provide students with information about the scholarship through the Financial Aid website, as well as provide information about the scholarship for the CCM website and CCM publications. Eligible students must submit a completed scholarship application, available on the Financial Aid Office scholarship website, by March 1st of the enrolling year to the Director of Scholarship. The scholarship recipient will be selected from the pool of applicants by a committee comprised of the Director of Scholarships (who will chair the committee), the Catholic Campus Minister and two members of the JMU faculty who are familiar with CCM activities and students. The Director of Scholarships will notify the student recipient of the selection by June 1st of the enrolling year. If at any time the student recipient fails to meet the requirements, a new student will be selected. The scholarship will be awarded for one year, one-half credited to the student's account each semester. The recipient may re-apply for the scholarship in subsequent years.
