Class of 1943 Alumni Scholarship

 Criteria:
     Need Based? No
     Freshman Only? No
 Information:
An endowed scholarship established with funds donated by the Class of 1943. The recipient will be selected as an entering freshman with a direct alumni legacy relationship. In addition, the recipient must have strong academic, extra-curricular and community service credentials. The recipient will continue to receive the scholarship for the four years that he or she attends Madison, as long as he or she maintains good academic standing. If, at any time, the student recipient fails to meet the requirements or when the student graduates, a new student will be selected based on the established criteria.
 

Class of 1970 Alumni Scholarship

 Information:
Established by the Class of 1970 for an endowed scholarship.
 

Class of 1988 Alumni Scholarship

 Criteria:
     Need Based? No
     Freshman Only? Yes
 Information:
An endowed scholarship established by the JMU Class of 1988 as a class gift to the University. The recipient shall be an undergraduate student with GPA of 2.5 or above; an active member of any University organization; financial need is not to be of primary importance but should be a consideration; each recipient will receive the scholarship each of the four years of attendance at JMU while other criteria is maintained. Freshmen recipients will be chosen two months into the Fall semester. Financial Aid shall recommend students to the Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee members - JMU Alumni Director, JMU Financial Aid Director and officers of the Class of 1988.
 

Alumni Legacy Scholarship

 Criteria:
     Need Based? No
     Freshman Only? Yes
 Information:
An endowed scholarship established by the JMU Foundation after receiving recommendations for the scholarship from the JMU Alumni Association. Summary of criteria: $500 scholarship available for two (2) entering freshman who are direct blood line descendants of JMU alumni (sons/daughters, grandchildren); no financial need requirements; apply by May 1 for the upcoming academic year; renewable for student's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years according to performance (reapply each year).
 

Black Alumni Chapter Scholarship Endowment

 Criteria:
     Need Based? No
     Freshman Only? Yes
 Information:

An endowed scholarship established by the Black Alumni Chapter of James Madison University, supported by charitable gifts from members and friends of the Chapter to provide the financial resources to establish and support an Endowed Scholarship for students entering their first year of study at James Madison University. The appointment of a student as a Black Alumni Chapter Scholar shall follow the University's guidelines for the awarding of scholarships, provided, however, that the following specific conditions are here noted:

The Black Alumni Chapter's specific intention by this fund is to benefit under-represented students entering the University as first-year students; and, further, to influence such student's respective decisions to enroll at the University. For this reason, the parties specifically acknowledge here that the selection determinations regarding this Scholarship need to be made and announced early in the decision process so this Scholarship may fulfill its purpose and serve as an effective influence on the decisions of eligible student scholars. Please further note - The Black Alumni Chapter's specific intention is that offers of this Scholarship be made in a timely fashion in both the fall and spring semesters - with a at least one scholarship awarded to an early admitted student and the balance of the available scholarship(s) awarded to regularly admitted students.

Scholarship recipients shall be selected based on merit and any additional factors that the Scholarship Selection Committee may deem important.

The diversity recruitment representative(s) of the Admissions Office at James Madison University will pre-screen applicants and select those students the representative(s) feel(s) most qualify for the Scholarship. Final selection of the scholarship recipients will be made by the Scholarship Selection Committee.

The Black Alumni Chapter's specific intention is that a minimum of one scholarship recipient will be chosen each year; and, the minimum award for each recipient will be One Thousand Dollars.

 

Class of 1954 Endowed Scholarship

 Information:
An endowed scholarship established by the Alumni Class of 1954 for JMU scholarships to celebrate their 40th reunion.
 

Carrie Kutner Student Ambassador Scholarship Fund

 Criteria:
     Need Based? No
     Freshman Only? No
 Information:
An endowed scholarship established in memory of former Student Ambassador Carrie Kutner by the JMU Student Ambassadors. It is intended to benefit a JMU student, who is not currently a Student Ambassador. The recipient must have and maintain an minimum 2.5 grade point average. The recipient must have attended JMU for one full year prior to applying the scholarship. Most importantly, the student must exhibit significant service to, and love for, James Madison University. If, at any time, the student recipient fails to meet the requirements or when the student graduates, a new student will be selected based on the established criteria. Because the Student Ambassadors are a student alumni association, the scholarship will be administered by the JMU Office of Alumni Relations.
 

Metro-Washington Alumni Chapter Endowed Scholarship

 Criteria:
     Need Based? No
     Freshman Only? No
 Information:

An endowed scholarship established by the Metro-Washington Alumni Chapter to provide scholarship(s) to JMU students from the Metro-Washington area of the chapter.

 

Philadelphia Area Alumni Chapter Endowed Scholarship

 Criteria:
     Need Based? No
     Freshman Only? No
 Information:
An endowed scholarship that is intended to benefit an admitted first year student, from the Philadelphia Area Alumni Chapter region, who will attend JMU in the Fall. The recipient must be in good academic standing. This scholarship will be administered by the JMU Alumni Office. The Alumni Office will mail an application to all qualified students. Those applications that are returned will be submitted to the Philadelphia chapter. The chapter will select the winner based on merit, not financial need.
 

Richmond Alumni Chapter Scholarship

 Criteria:
     Need Based? Yes
     Freshman Only? No
 Information:
An endowed scholarship established by the Richmond Chapter of the JMU Alumni Association to be awarded to students from the Richmond area showing a need for financial assistance and the potential for academic achievement. Recipients shall be chosen by the Director of Financial Aid in conjunction with the Scholarship Committee of the JMU Association Board of Directors.
