The James Madison University offices that moved into temporary quarters because of fire damage at the JMU Financial Services complex are all expected to return to normal operations Tuesday.
About 50 James Madison University employees moved into temporary quarters on campus because of the serious damage caused by a fire at the JMU complex at 1031 South Main Street.
The offices all have their same telephone and fax machine numbers. Email addresses also remained unchanged.
No one was injured but the fire, which began about 11 p.m. Sunday, extensively damaged a number of offices. A monetary estimate of the damage has not yet been made. Firefighters from throughout the area fought the blaze.
The building will probably not be usable for six months to a year. Efforts are now under way to find facilities where JMU offices can re-locate until the building is repaired.
In the meanwhile, temporary office space is being provided in the following areas for these departments:
· Procurement – IIS Training Center on Harrison Street.
· Payroll Accounting – Human Resources office.
· Accounts Payable – Frye Building lab.
· Cash and Investments – 1041 S. Main Street.
· Finance Office – 1021 S. Main Street.
· Controller’s Office and Grants and Contracts Office – Modular building off Warsaw Avenue.
· Fixed Assets – Wellington Hall basement.
Replacement equipment – computers, fax machines, copiers, etc. – will be ordered as needed. Efforts will be made to recover data from damaged computers.
Questions on keys and equipment should be directed to the office of the Associate Vice President for Administration and Finance, 8-7818.
