Transportation

  1. Follow general safety, Bloodborne Pathogens, Asbestos, and other FM procedures.

  2. Know the location of the MSDS book and how to read an MSDS. Be familiar with guidelines stated on the MSDS for chemicals being handled. Conduct a chemical inventory each year in September (Refer to the FM Hazard Communication Procedure, I:12). Handle all chemicals with rubber gloves, face, and eye protection.

  3. Know the location of eye wash stations and keep the pathway to them clear of any obstructions.

  4. Know the location of fire extinguishers and how to use them. Keep the pathway to them clear of any obstructions.

  5. Know the location of the various repair manuals in the garage and be familiar with the various safety procedures for each repair process. Take the time to refresh your memory before starting a new process or one which you haven't worked with recently.

  6. Hang a "Do Not Operate" tag on all vehicles being repaired or waiting for parts.

  7. Ensure that the battery has been disconnected before working on any vehicle.

  8. When you have questions, please ask your supervisor, your co-workers, and check with the manufacturer or vendor.

  9. Report all accidents to your supervisor immediately.
