The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is the component of the reaffirmation process that reflects and affirms the commitment of SACS to enhance the quality of higher education and focus on student learning. The QEP describes a carefully designed course of action that addresses a well-defined and focused topic or issue related to enhancing student learning. The QEP will be embedded within JMU's ongoing integrated institution-wide planning and evaluation processes. The topic may evolve
from the existing process or from others related to the university's internal reaffirmation report and review.
Developing a QEP as part of the reaffirmation process is an opportunity for us to enhance overall institutional quality and effectiveness by focusing on an issue the institution considers a way of improving student learning. The evaluators expect the QEP to present a clear and comprehensive analysis of the selected topic and show its crucial importance to the institution. The QEP is expected to include:
- A university-wide process for identifying key issues
- Broad-based involvement of institutional constituents in the development and implementation
While the Compliance Certification focuses on the present, the QEP looks to the future. Topic selection will begin soon. If you have an idea for how JMU can enhance its student learning, you could be part of the QEP! Go to www.jmu.edu/qep for more information and to submit your proposal.
