SSG Fretwell

Staff Sergeant Fretwell is a native of Staunton, Virginia. He joined the Virginia Army National Guard in 2008 and attended Infantry One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Staff Sergeant Fretwell’s assignments include assistant machine gunner, gunner in Alpha Company, 3/116th Infantry Brigade, Harrisonburg, Virginia, Fire Team Leader in Delta Company, 3/116th Infantry Brigade, Fredericksburg, Virginia, Squad Leader in Bravo Company, 3/116th Infantry Brigade, Woodstock, Virginia, On Campus Recruiter, VA ARNG, James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Staff Sergeant Fretwell has served in every leader-ship position from Team Leader to Area NCOIC. He has one combat deployment to Iraq.

Staff Sergeant Fretwell’s military education includes the Army Basic Instructor Course, Basic Non Commissioned Officers Course, Tactical Combatives Course, Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station Course, Recruiter and Retention course.

Staff Sergeant Fretwell’s awards include: The National Defense Service Medal, The Army Commendation Medal, The Army Achievement Medal (Numeral 3), The Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, The Army Service Ribbon, The Overseas Service Ribbon, The Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, The National Guard Recruiting Senior Badge, The Armed Forces Reserve Medal, The Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, The Iraqi Campaign Medal, The Virginia National Guard Service Medal Ribbon (numeral 2), The Virginia National Guard Emergency Service Military Ribbon (numeral 2), The Virginia National Guard Strength and Maintenance Military Ribbon.

Staff Sergeant Fretwell is married to Brynne Fretwell of Chester, Virginia. He has two children, Gage and Londyn.
