Associate Director, Office of Research Integrity

Carrie is the Associate Director in the Office of Research Integrity (ORI) at James Madison University. In this capacity, she assists with the implementation, maintenance, and assessment of research compliance and ethics activities. Areas of oversight and administrative support include research involving human subjects, animals, and biosafety, as well as financial conflict of interest. She is responsible for the implementation of university day-to-day operation of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), and serves as backup for the Institutional Review Board (IRB). She also serves as an alternate ex-officio on all three committees. In addition, Carrie is the Site Administrator for the electronic Research Administration (eRA) software system.

Carrie received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from JMU and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Seton Hall University. Carrie worked in the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) during her undergraduate years at the university.  Post-graduation, Carrie returned to JMU working in Admissions for the 2009-2010 academic year then later returning to OSP in 2010 in a wage position. In September 2013 she was offered the Administrative Assistant position in ORI and promoted to Assistant Director in July 2014. Carrie obtained the designation of Certified Research Administrator (CRA) in December 2015. She was promotoed to Associate Director in April 2022.
