In order to achieve the Research and Public Service mission, two advisory councils provide guidance, program review, and subject matter expertise for both RPS programming and university-wide initiatives.
The Faculty Research Council serves as the internal advisory body for Research and Public Service. Comprised of faculty and staff across a variety of academic disciplines and administrative offices, the FRC seeks to enhance the culture of research and scholarship at JMU, by providing an open forum to discuss funding mechanisms and recommend best practices to the Provost and Academic Council.
The Research and Public Service Executive Advisory Council, one of three professional Executive Advisory Councils at JMU, replaces the long-standing Advisory Board of the Institute for Infrastructure and Information Assurance. Currently, Research and Public Service staff are in the process of identifying senior government officials and private sector innovators to populate the RPS EAC.
