The Virginia Wounded Warrior Program (VWWP) was created by the 2008 Virginia General Assembly to ensure that services to veterans and their families are readily available in all areas of the state. It is operated by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services.
The Virginia Wounded Warrior Program in cooperation with the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, monitors and coordinates behavioral health and rehabilitative services and support services through an integrated, comprehensive and responsive system of public and private partnerships. VWWP facilitates these services for Virginia veterans, members of the Virginia National Guard and Armed Forces Reserves (not in federal service), and their families with a special emphasis on those affected by stress related conditions or traumatic brain injuries resulting from military service.
